“I long to accomplish a great and noble task, but it is my chief duty to accomplish small tasks as if they were great and noble.”
- Helen Keller

“It is in deep solitude that I find the gentleness with which I can truly love my brothers. The more solitary I am the more affection I have for them. Solitude and silence teach me to love my brothers for what they are, not for what they say.”
- Thomas Merton

The U in Jesus

THE U IN JESUS

Before U were thought of or time had begun,
God stuck U in the name of His Son.

And each time U pray, you’ll see it’s true,
You can’t spell out JesUs and not include U.

You’re a pretty big part of His wonderful name,
For U, He was born; that’s why He came.

And His great love for U is the reason He died.
It even takes U to spell crUcified.

Isn’t it thrilling and splendidly grand
He rose from the dead, with U in His plan?

The stones split away, the gold trUmpet blew,
and this word resUrrection is spelled with a U.

When JesUs left earth at His upward ascension,
He felt there was one thing He just had to mention.

“Go into the world and tell them it’s true
That I love them all - Just like I love U.”

So many great people are spelled with a U,
Don’t they have a right to know JesUs too?

It all depends now on what U will do,
He’d like them to know,
But it all starts with U.

Paulo Coehlo’s Manual of the Warrior of Light

When a warrior is a victim of some injustice, he usually tries to be alone, in order not to show his pain to others. This is both good and bad.

It is one thing to allow one’s heart to heal its wounds slowly, but it is quite another to sit all day in deep contemplation for fear of seeming weak.

Inside each of us there lives an angel and a devil, and their voices are very alike. Confronted by a problem, the devil encourages that solitary conversation, trying to show us how vulnerable we are. The angel makes us reflect upon our attitudes and occasionally needs someone else’s mouth to reveal itself.

A warrior balances solitude and dependence.”

12 reasons why you should say no to marriage?!?

A man walks into a drug store with his 8-year old son. They happen to walk by the condom display, and the boy asks,”What are these, Dad? To which the man matter-of-factly replies, “Those are called condoms, son.

Men use them to have safe sex. “Oh I see,” replied the boy pensively. Yes, I’ve heard of that in health class at school.”

He looks over the display and picks up a package of 3 and asks, “Why are there 3 in this package? ” The dad replies,”Those are for high school boys, ONE for Friday, ONE for Saturday, and ONE for Sunday.” “Cool” says the boy.

He notices a 6 pack and asks, “Then who are these for?” “Those are for college men,” the dad answers, TWO for Friday, TWO for Saturday, and TWO for Sunday.”

“WOW!” exclaimed the boy, “then who uses THESE?” he asks, picking up a 12 pack!
With a sigh and a tear in his eye, the dad replied, “Those are for the married men. ONE for January, ONE for February, ONE for March….etc.”

weddings here there and everywhere

I’m going to attend two weddings this month. One is for my college friend Nanette and the other one is my colleague getting hitched. There’s another one in December, another college friend is getting married. Geezzz, is that really my only role in life - to attend weddings? Just mere guest?!? Soo synonymous to “always a bride’s maid, never the bride”. How sad!? :P Arrggghh here’s more to that - i’m always a godmother too!? Speaking of, it’s the 2nd birthday of my godson Gabo on Saturday. Tsk.. can’t deny, i’m getting older… hayyy…

something to inspire you…

Something to inspire you… to pass on…

A ninety-one year old woman died after living a long dignified life. When she met God she asked him something that had long bothered her.

If Man was created in God’s image, and if all men are created equal, why
do people treat each other so badly?

God replied that each person who enters our life has a unique lesson to teach us. And it is only through these lessons that we learn about life, people, relationships and God. This confused the woman, so God began to explain.

When someone lies to you it teaches you that things are not always as they seem. The truth is often far beneath the surface. Look beyond the masks people wear if you want to know their heart. And remove your own masks to let people know yours.

When someone steals from you it teaches you that nothing is forever. Always appreciate what you have, for you never know when you might lose it.

And never, ever take your friends and family for granted because today is the only guarantee you have.

When someone inflicts an injury upon you it teaches you that the human state is a fragile one. Protect and take care of your body as best as you can, it’s the only thing you are sure to have here on earth.

When someone mocks you it teaches you that no two people are alike. When you encounter people who are different from you, don’t judge them by how they look or act; instead base your opinion on the contents of their heart.

When someone breaks your heart it teaches you that loving someone does not always mean that person will love you back. But don’t turn your back on love because when you find the right person, the joy that one person brings will make up for all the past hurts put together. Times ten.

When someone holds a grudge against you it teaches you that everyone make mistakes. When you are wronged, the most virtuous thing you can do is forgive the offender without pretense. Forgiving those who have hurt us is the most difficult and courageous thing Man can do.

When a loved one is unfaithful to you it teaches you that resisting temptation is Man’s greatest challenge. Be vigilant in your resistance against all temptation. By doing so you will be rewarded with an enduring sense of satisfaction far greater than the temporary pleasure by which you were tempted.

When someone cheats you, it teaches you that greed is the root of all evil. Aspire to make your dreams come true, no matter how lofty they may be. Do not feel guilty about your success, but never ?let an obsession with achieving your goals lead you to engage in malevolent activities.

When someone ridicules you it teaches you that nobody is perfect. Accept people for their merits and be tolerant of their flaws. Do not ever reject someone for imperfections over which they have no control.

Upon hearing the Lord’s wisdom, the old woman became concerned that there were no lessons to be learned from Man’s good deeds. God replied that Man’s capacity to love is the greatest gift he has.

At the root of all kindness is love, and each act of love also teaches us a lesson.

The woman’s curiosity deepening, God once again began to explain. When someone loves us it teaches us that love, kindness, charity, honesty, humility, forgiveness and acceptance can counteract all the evil in the world. For every good deed, there is one less evil deed. Man alone has the power to control the balance between good and evil, but because the lessons of love are not taught often enough, the power is too often abused.

When you enter someone’s life, whether by plan, chance or coincidence, consider what your lesson will be. Will you teach love or a harsh lesson of reality? When you die will your life have resulted in more loving or hurting? More comfort or pain? More joy or sadness? Each one of us has power over the balance of love in the world. Use it wisely.

Don’t miss an opportunity to nudge the world’s scale in the right direction.

Pass this lesson of love on to those you love and to those you have hurt. For each person who receives this, there will be a little less evil in the world and a little more love.

death by chocolate

Death by chocolate. Hmnnn aint that a hip way to die? LOL! I’ll think about it! Seriously, this phrase ‘death by chocolate’ got the curiosity in me when i read it in the desserts’ list of Casa Verde restaurant. It sound very interesting, do you agree? I asked the waiter what it is made of? She said, it’s a cake covered by ice cream. Unhesitatingly I said i’ll order it. I hurriedly ate my dinner because i was already anxious about my dessert. I was a little disappointed when my order arrived. Contrary to what the waiter said, it looked more of a chocolate icecream covered by cake? I was literally only eating chocolate icecream only it has chocolate coatings. Fine, i eat anything sweet anyway.

sorry i failed to take a photo of the actual dessert
