tearjerker movies

Posted on Jun 25, 2010 under blahs, my thoughts with infos | No Comment

It’s been weeks away since i watched the movie Dear John. It is starred by one of my favorites, Channing Tatum. Amanda Seyfried has been a darling too. She’s starred a couple of good movies lately. It is a movie based on the novel by Nicholas Sparks, known for tearjerker stories like A Walk To Remember and The Notebook.

Surprisingly, the movie version of Dear John, was contrary to the usual sad endings. So, most of my friends were intrigued on how the story ended in the book. I have not read it. But they say, the story ending in the book is different from the movie. Now i would not want to read a sad ending. Heheh. Maybe i will not read the book at all.

They all are talking about another book entitled Nights In Rodanthe, which was made into a movie too. Maybe i could check this out from Amazon books and read it too. They say it’s really a sad movie. Who would want a sad movie? But i’m intrigued, so we’ll see.

By the way, i have original cd copies of A Walk To Remember and The Notebook. I can’t afford DVD copies. :P

on safety rules

Posted on Jun 13, 2010 under blahs at work, my thoughts with infos | No Comment

Catastrophes are inevitable. Bad things could happen at any given time. But being prepared and having the proper knowledge on what to do when calamities happen can at least lessen the damage and losses. That’s why i believe it’s important that we, employees, should strictly and heartily follow and obey any safety drills conducted within the company premises. Even simply following exit signs can do so much in implementing safety rules.

During company safety drills, i think it’s better if it is unannounced. When people know it is just a drill, they tend not to follow instructions. Why bother when it is just a drill? If it is unannounced, people will act by instincts and it is by this nature that the safety committee can very well assess its safety programs. As a leader, there’s this one thing for us to do when a fire (for example) happens. That i should go and secure an attendance checklist at the guardhouse - that is to check the headcount. If ever something would happen, i don’t think i would still be in my right mind to ever go to the guardhouse and ask for this checklist! Isn’t that funny?

what’s so special with June?

Posted on Jun 13, 2010 under blahs, my thoughts with infos | No Comment

So, it’s June - the month oh-so-famous for weddings. Why is it that it’s kind of special when someone says she’s a June bride? According to church records (i read sometime somewhere) however that December is the month with the highest rate of wedding ceremonies done, and not June.

Maybe it’s really special when you’re wed on the month of June. For at the office, i know four people who’ll get married this month. I’m not invited to any of this ceremonies, i’m not a close friend to them. But one of my friends told me that i’ve been to a lot of weddings already. I should know all there is to be prepared. Yup, when my turn comes, i already have in mind what my wedding should be like. I found this wedding cake toppers online and i’m sure one of the items would be perfect for my cake. But just like any celebrations, a thing or two minor details would be neglected. It doesn’t matter though, for what is important is the sanctity of the ceremony and not the grandeur of the fancy decors or dresses.

kodus to honesty

It seldom happens to me. I’m almost always mindful of my things. But one weekend was an exemption. I probably was too tired that i totally forgot the items i just bought in the mall. I got myself a (board) shorts and a pair of socks in a boutique. Later, i went inside the department store to find another pair of shorts. When i got home, i realized i don’t have the plastic bag for the first two items i bought in the boutique. Waahhh! I went back to the department store the next day with the hopes that the saleslady found it. I was so sure i left it at one of the shelves while browsing through the shorts on display. I followed my intuition and asked the saleslady if they found a plastic bag with socks and shorts in it. Voila! She did find it. My intuition was so right. I went to the right area of the department store and i only had to ask a single saleslady. She led me to the lost and found claim area of the store. I just waited for a few minutes and i got my stuff without any hassles. Kodus to the staff of SM City Cebu (department store), especially to the saleslady who found my plastic bag. Thanks and God bless your soul. 

happy independence day

Today is Philippine Independence day… it’s supposedly a non-working holiday but since it falls on a Saturday, the holiday is moved to Monday. So yes, we have no work on Monday. It’s going to be long weekend for me. I have no plans so i’ll probably just be at home.

My friend from college is celebrating her birthday today, gladly she wasn’t named Independencia by her parents. :P It’s unique though. :P

gold coins

Posted on Jun 06, 2010 under general info | No Comment

Coins or mints are metal piece used as money. While it is a commodity in exchange for goods, some have ventured into collecting coins, especially rare coins. I’m not into this hobby but i do believe it is a very interesting thing to do. They can serve as investments too. The price of a coin can be as twice as much tomorrow as it is today. Do you ever wanna buy gold eagle coins and start your own collection? The Unite States Gold Bureau has a lot of collection to offer, they even have the rarest collection of coins. Check out their site and you’ll learn more about investing in gold coins and find out more about the different kinds of coins on earth.

Jewish mom

Posted on Jun 06, 2010 under jokes | 9 Comments

This one is an old joke.. but you might not have read it yet.. read on and have a good laugh….

A 20-year-old Jewish girl tells her mom that she has missed her period for 2 months. Very worried, the mother goes to the drugstore and buys a pregnancy kit. The test result shows that the girl is pregnant.

Shouting and crying, the mother says, “Who was the pig that did this to you? I want to know!” Without answering, the girl picks up the phone and makes a call.

Half an hour later, a Mercedes stops in front of their house. A mature and distinguished man with gray hair steps out of the car and enters the house.

He sits in the living room with the father, mother and the girl and tells them, “Good morning. Your daughter has informed me of the problem. I can’t marry her because of my personal family situation but I’ll take responsibility. I will pay all costs and provide for your daughter for the rest of her life.”

“Additionally, if a girl is born, I will bequeath two retail furniture stores, a deli, a condo in Miami and a $1,000,000 bank account.”

“If a boy is born, my legacy will be a chain of jewelry stores and a $25,000,000 bank account.”

“However, if there is a miscarriage, I’m not sure what to do. What do you suggest?”

All silent at this point, the mother placed a hand firmly on the man’s shoulder and tells him, “So, you’ll try again.”

random thoughts

Posted on Jun 06, 2010 under blahs, my thoughts with infos | No Comment

I have a lot of stuff in mind to do – wash soiled clothes, iron clothes, arrange things, back up files, burn to disk old pictures, arrange pictures by album as i want to start updating my travel blog, buy some more running gears (see it’s literally a fun run for me), finish watching Ugly Betty season 4, finish watching House season 6, check out fat burners that work for supplements, segregate old shoes and clothing, the list is endless. I just have too many things in mind to do. But I’m just too lazy, all i want is just sleep, sleep, sleep. Arrghh!

I just bought half size of a whole jackfruit. You know eating jackfruit isn’t that easy. It’s not just a matter of slicing and then eating. It’s more than that. If you like jackfruit, then you know what i’m talking about. So excuse me, i have to go and have myself a fill of jackfruit. This tropical fruit isn’t available all year round, or at least from where i live.
